Safety Guidelines


Once you are registered, LeBron’s State Farm King for Kids Bikeathon will be sending you tips for the ride. Our goal is to make this the absolute best biking experience you have ever had! In case you are a beginner, below are a few general rules of the road you should be familiar with. And, we will have more to come!

DO:

- Drink 2 – 3 cups of non-caffeinated fluids 2 – 3 hours prior to riding
- Warm up before and after riding
- ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET
- Wear layers of clothing so that you can adjust to weather
- Ride in the right-hand lane
- Ride no more than two abreast
- Obey all traffic signs and signals
- Use hand signals and signal all turns
- Watch out for gravel, sand, glass, etc
- Following the rides, make sure to drink an additional 7 – 10 ounce glass of water or sports drink

DON’T:

- Wear headphones
- Ride behind cars or other cyclists
- Weave across the road

VOICE WARNINGS:

- When turning say “left turn” or “right turn”
- Passing say “on your left”
- Moving back say “dropping back”
- When traffic is approaching say “car back”

NO carts, training wheels, tricycles, tandem bikes, or bikes with child seats. Each participant (child or adult) must be able to ride a two wheel bike independently.
Parents will be responsible for babies, toddlers, and children who cannot ride bikes independently. There are no onsite childcare provisions for children who cannot participate in the ride.
